Truro Cottage Details
Close to Beach and quiet trails: There is a lot to see close by. It's a 3 minute walk to a beautiful, uncrowded beach on the Bay. Walk across the street to the newest town park preserving a sand dune and marsh with dramatic views Or, just go up the dune road behind the house to see the sweep of Cape Cod and the Pilgrim Monument. Walk 1/4 mile to the Pamet River inlet jetty and explore the seashells and sandbars at low tide. Take a five minute ride to the sheltered small boat harbor. Borrow our canoe and paddle the Pamet River, a quite meandering stream the starts at the Atlantic and just about bisects the cape. Take the Cranberry Bog trail on the National Seashore that covers both fantastic views of the Pamet and an historic area of an old cranberry bog. A short drive to the tip of Cape Cod is world famous Provincetown: great for food, extensive trails for walking / bicycling, National Seashore programs, whale watching tours, beach dune tours, extensive art, clothing and jewelry shopping and night life!
Great for relaxing family fun: Do you play UNO? ... Or is Boggle or Scrabble more your style? When you’re ready for a rest, we have many board games, card games and puzzles designed to keep kids busy. Also, there is a library of adult novels, local historical books and children books. There are 3 comfortable recliners for just stretching out. Don't forget the big box of beach toys kept at the top of the stairs in the attic or the 3 adult bicycles in the shed. The beautiful Truro town library is a short ride to the north side of town. It has an extensive children's section and many activities. Next to it is the new children's playground - Panther Park - build by town volunteers. For a little adventure, climb to the top of the historic Cape Cod Lighthouse and see the displays about this famous structure that was saved from destruction by moving it back from the eroding cliffs. Don't forget the Highland House museum, a turn of the century boarding house with many interest artifacts about life on Cape Cod.
Golf: The Highland Links Golf Course is the only golf course (I know of) that is located around a lighthouse. It's a rather spectacular setting and easy to get to from the cottage.
