"This was our first experience with using the net in place of newspaper ads to rent our summer place. We truly appreciate all the assistance given us in getting the page together, inserting the pics, etc. In the 10 days or so that the page has been up, 5 days without pictures listed, we've received 6 inquiries, resulting in receipt of 1 signed lease and a deposit, and 4 more serious inquiries asking for more info, pictures and leases..Inquiries came in from suburban Seattle, coming to the Chicago area this summer to be with family, .and another was from a suburban St. Louis travel agent inquiring for her client. This was mind boggling in the first 10 days! Perhaps it was a case of very good timing...when these people are looking to plan family vacations, and that we had a really great place, right-sized, properly priced, & in the right area.. Today I did my year-end calculations to gather the results...my own mini marketing research. Thought you'd like to know that 80% of my inquiries came as a result of my advertising on greatrentals. The other 20% was split between cvrbo and ovrentals. When it came to actual rentals, all except one came from greatrentals.com. Gross income from 15 weeks of rentals as a result of our advertising on your site amounted to approximately $30,000. Our property management company, Wild Dunes, added only 5 weeks in rentals to our total. Thought you'd also like to know that Wild Dunes has advised us that we are no longer allowed to rent our home ourselves. All rentals must come though Wild Dunes. So we have only one choice. It's a nobrainer. Quit Wild Dunes and stick with greatrentals. We've found another property management company that will allow us to rent ourselves and, for a small fee, they'll register our guests. Online rentals are the way of the present and future for vacation rentals. I do believe any property management company that does not address this trend will find the going tough.
