Fripp Island House Details
Paved bicycle, skating or jogging trails traverse the island. Wildlife is abundant. Deer, raccoons, herons, egrets, ospreys and alligators are common sights. Loggerhead turtles lay many nests on Fripp each year. Nature centers on Fripp and nearby Hunting Island provide hours of enjoyable activities on the beaches, in the forests or marshes. Once you arrive, park the car and rent a golf cart for island transportation.
There is Camp Fripp for the kids to get away from the parents for a couple of hours during the day for them to take in other activities, meet other kids, and give Mom and Dad a chance to relax. What a relief for them! Hollywood has discovered Fripp Island to be fascinating as well. The Ocean Creek and Tidal Marsh areas of Fripp were used as film sets for both Forest Gump and Disney's The Jungle Book! Jaques Cousteau said that 'Fripp Island is framed by some of the the world's most fertile and pristine salt marshes.
Activities:: (on site or nearby): Biking, Golf, Tennis, Basketball, Gym, Fishing (surf, bottom or deep sea), Wildlife Viewing, Shopping, Restaurants, small grocery store, Swimming, Boating, Jet Skiing, Shelling, Rock Climbing Wall, Playgrounds, 'Kids Night Out', Teen activities, Crabbing, Bingo, Hunting Island State Park, Historic Beaufort (a must for civil war buffs) and Parris Island are nearby. A nearby shrimp boat wharf provides fresh shrimp, fish and shellfish. In season local farms sell fresh vegetables.
Golf: There are two golf courses located on Fripp. Ocean Creek Golf Course designed by 1997 PGA Champion Davis Love, III par 71 6,629-yard) has won design honors from GOLF MAGAZINE and THE GOLFER. Ocean Point Golf Links designed by George W. Cobb (par 71 6556-yard)is a links style course where the land meets the sea. South Carolina National Golf Club on nearby Cat Island can also be accessed by our guests.
