View the majestic Nantahala Mountain Range and beautiful Nantahala Lake from this gorgeous, very private, top-of-the-mountain executive retreat. Sitting on two acres at 4200 feet, there are no obstructions to a breathtaking 240 degree view of the surrounding mountains and forest, and serene mountain lake below. A huge deck runs the length of the house, hanging off the side of our mountain. Suitable for outdoor dining and relaxing, some guests never leave it! Indoors, relax in a magnificent space highlighted by 20' ceilings and huge windows on three sides of the house. Red oak floors throughout. Private master suite can be closed off from the rest of the house. There is a charming guest bedroom with separate full bath. Cozy modern den is great for reading or watching satellite TV. There are wonderful indoor entertaining possibilities in great room with fireplace, dining area, and comfortable, spacious living area.

Our area of Western North Carolina is famed for the beauty and peace found in its rugged mountains. It is a nature lover's and outdoor enthusiast's paradise. Our mountain is very private and our area, in general, is not overbuilt as are Asheville and Highlands. One reason is that the shore line of Nantahala Lake is 90% National Forest. There is no and never will there be a public marina, for instance. Our home appeals to those who seek privacy, beauty, peace and quiet.

Notes: Children are welcome with the understanding that this is a private home with expensive furnishings. The drop from the deck is 40 feet and children should be monitored at all times. Elderly people are welcome and the house is on one level and easy to navigate. There is one step from the driveway to the front door. It is expected that guests bring their own paper products, firewood and charcoal. The telephone services local calls and 800 numbers only. Cell phone reception is fair.

Fully complemented kitchen complete with breakfast area for two, overlooking the Nantahala Mountain Range. House is all on one level. NO SMOKING AND NO PETS, please. There is direct access from front door to Bartram Trail, accessing the AT six miles to the northeast, or hike to the lake where pontoon boat rentals are available. If you have a canoe or boat, a public ramp is located at the foot of our mountain. Great wildlife viewing may include black bear, coyote and bobcat. Unsurpassed birding can be had right from the deck. Full powered telescope to set up on the deck for all those starry nights. Raft the Nantahala, Ocoee, Chattooga and more nearby. Lots of mountain biking options. This is the perfect base for the outdoor enthusiast! The nearby communities of Murphy, Andrews, Franklin and Dillsboro offer great shopping opportunities for antiques and original art.
