Montalcino Villa Summary

Montelandi is a typical Sienese villa set in 14 acres of woodland above the Via Cassia, the old pilgrim road from Siena to Rome, in the Brunello di Montalcino wine region. The Villa is ideal for a house party or a large family to share. Montelandi can be booked as a single unit catering for up to sixteen people or as a house which sleeps up to twelve. For smaller parties the garden apartment may be booked separately which sleeps four. The beautiful terraces are shaded by vine, ivy, jasmine and wisteria covered pergolas. For outdoor living there are rattan and teak easy chairs, recliners, dining furniture and barbeques. There is a private swimming pool measuring 32ft by 16ft with steps at the shallow end. It has it's own terrace away from the front gardens, looking south. For the children there is a paddling pool, swings and a games room with table tennis.

Details for Main House

The main house may be rented on its own at any time other than at peak season when it is let together with the garden apartment. The living room of the main house is large; it has a marble floor, a beamed ceiling and a hooded Tuscan fireplace. The room is comfortably furnished with English upholstery and antiques. Doors from the living room lead onto a covered loggia with arches framing the view across the valley. The kitchen is fully equipped, with a breakfast table to seat 12 and an open fireplace for log fires in autumn and winter. When the two parts of the villa are booked together there is a second kitchen downstairs leading out onto the terrace with long tables for al fresco dining to seat 20.

The semi circular front garden gives a panoramic view of the Val D'Arbia and the view from the terrace over the valley is of Montalcino, the little town famous throughout the world for it's 'Brunello di Montalcino'. The local market town is Buonconvento, a medieval walled town with good shops, restaurants and cafes. It has a weekly market on Saturdays and an interesting art gallery in a Liberty style villa near the Town Hall. The are vineyards in the vicinity at which you would be welcome. There are small reasonably priced local trattoria and a great variety of eating places from farmhouses to outstanding gourmet restaurants on the vineyards. There are three famous hill towns, Montalcino, Montepulciano and Pienza to visit, the great Abbey of Monte Olivetto Maggiore and the beautiful Abbey Church of St Antimo. Regular trains operate to Siena and Florence which can save taking the car to the cities.
