Grolejac House Summary

Le Verger and its Cottage are charming 18th Century stone houses situated on a hilltop, with beautiful views overlooking acres of sloping lawns and woodland. The main house has 3/4 bedrooms and sleeps between 9 to 11 people, whilst the Cottage has 2 bedrooms and sleeps 4 to 5 people. Both houses come fully equipped and therefore can be used in which ever way suits your party. The house and cottage have been lovingly restored, whilst retaining all their original features, full of French rustic charm. Its private heated swimming pool (10m x 5m) is just a few meters from both houses amongst fruit trees and palms, overlooked by the property's terraces. It is located in one of the most sought after areas of the Dordogne. Within easy reach are the caves of Les Eyzies, the medieval town of Sarlat, and the chateaux of Beynac, Castelnaud, and the walled town of Domme. The Dordogne River and the Groléjac lake, with beaches and water sports, are just a couple of kilometers away.

Notes: Le Verger has been beautifully restored throughout. Features include a large stone fireplace, original tiled floors, oak beams and an old stone sink. The floor, staircase and ceilings are made of solid chestnut and oak. Other features include an impressive rafted area in the tower and solid oak curved doors and arches. The kitchen, with solid chestnut bespoke units, and bathrooms are of a typically French rustic style. The covered terrace, facing the pool and views, is ideal for dinning al-fresco. The Cottage has been recently renovated but retaining its original features. It is great for in-laws/parents or teenagers who might enjoy a bit of their own space. We don't have interior photos yet as it's being renovated. The style will be rustic, with beams and stone walls apparent. The properties are surrounded by acres of idyllic countryside which is great for exploring. The pool is enclosed for child safety and is heated by a solar summer cover which can increase the temp up to 7 deg C.

A WELCOME NOTE FROM LILA & GARETH: We are the proud owners of Le Verger. We bought the property in 2003 and have been renting it successfully ever since, getting great feedback and with many families revisiting. We have been busy making lots of improvements including adding the pool and renovating the Cottage. We have also renovated the house that we now live in, which is down the hill from Le Verger. Since we have moved to France, we personally look after the running of Le Verger and our guests. We really enjoy meeting our guests and love to see people enjoying their holidays here. We are at hand should you need anything or if total seclusion is what you are after, we won't be disturbing you.
